Dear Bug & Bird: Entrepreneurship is a Family Journey

Dear Bug and Bird,

I want you to know that this letter isn't just a reflection of my journey but a celebration of ours – together.

Intro

Looking back, I realize that the seed of entrepreneurship was always there in me. Before I even knew what being an entrepreneur meant, there was this unquenchable thirst to build, to create, to lead teams and organizations. I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it, that I could turn dreams into reality. But in this relentless pursuit, what I didn't immediately see was the family journey it entailed.

Backstory

Remember the stories I've told you about my college days? That's where it all started. I founded what I called a "company" – a term I use loosely, as I was a naive, yet enthusiastic personal trainer. When I graduated, I passed on my client list to another trainer, marking my first venture into business. Post-college life was a whirlwind of entrepreneurial endeavors: from a small BPO company to joining a venture-capital funded car startup, and hitting a significant milestone with a telematics software company. Successes and failures were abundant, but each step was a learning experience.

The path eventually led me to Entrepreneurship-through-Acquisition, which brought me to BBG, the second platform company I've been nurturing.

Lesson

This journey has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. Each time I stumbled, it was the support system around me – the belief and encouragement from those I love – that helped me rise again. And never has this support been more profound than the one I receive from your mom and you, my dear kids.

Conclusion

I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude. For understanding the necessity of work trips, the early mornings, the long meetings, the constant presence of my phone, and the late nights. These sacrifices don't go unnoticed. They are the fuel that powers this journey.

We're in this together – every step, every leap, every stumble. This entrepreneurial journey is ours, and every experience, a shared chapter in our family story.

With all my love,

Dad
